Inquiry into Data-Based Curricular Leadership (2 and 3 Graduate Credit Options)

Many teacher and school leaders share a common frustration: How to transform mountains of data on student achievement into an action plan that will improve instruction and increase student learning. In this inquiry, you will bolster your understanding of educational systems, roles, and practical statistics in order to collect and effectively use student learning data from your educational environment to lead instructional and curricular change efforts.  You will engage with diverse faculty groups, both at UVEI and through fieldwork in your school, to examine data, make appropriate inferences, and use these to plan for meaningful action, eventually developing an action plan resulting from data-based inquiry. The Foundations option offers additional exploration of the research as it informs and analyzes to improve your practice. 

Note:  If participants do not have a background in statistics, we strongly recommend enrollment in the Practical Statistics for Educators module. Through this module, participants will learn foundational statistical concepts for interpreting and presenting quantitative data typically found in standardized test reports .The Foundations option offers additional exploration of the research as it informs and analyzes to improve your practice.
