Inquiry into Instructional Coaching (2 and 3 graduate credit options)

How can teachers help one another improve their practice?  Instructional coaching is a popular setting for this work, but too often teachers are thrust into the role of a coach without formal training. In this inquiry, you will learn best practices in instructional coaching and collegial analysis of evidence such as effective coaching conversations, collaborative planning, observing instruction, and analyzing student work.  As fieldwork, you will engage in observation of instruction, analysis of coachee practice, and instructional conferencing with teachers at your school, and bring back evidence to discuss and learn from.

Optional add-on:  322:  Foundations of Instructional Coaching, 1 graduate credit, $350 (must also enroll in 320)
