Teaching for Understanding
Effective curriculum is designed backwards– with the end in mind– in order to engage students in deep, meaningful learning. Effective curriculum is not focused on activities or the coverage of content. In other words, backward design helps educators create logical teaching progressions that move students toward achieving specific—and important—learning objectives.
In this inquiry, you will plan differentiated and subject-specific units that engage students in thinking and understanding. The Foundations option offers additional exploration of the research.
